Team Structure

Real Skills is essentially a student-lead and student-run organisation.
Over the course of 4 years, we have seen close to one hundred incredible individuals volunteer their time to provide high quality professional development services to our students and our industry partners.
As of 2020, our student-run operations team is at 50-strong, across all of our divisions. This number is only expected to continue growing as our operations continue to expand.

OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM

With the growing size of our operations team, we are constantly bringing senior and junior professionals to assist Real Skills’ strategic direction, while supporting our operation operations with resources and external advice.

Business Development

Our Business Development team have been working closely with our Directors to strategise and lead the implementation of brand new initiatives closely tied into RSE’s 3 year strategy plan.

Commitment Expectations

  • 5-8 hours per week outside of university/working times (including weekends)
  • Monthly face-to-face meetings
  • Weekly divisional meetings (either online or in-person)
  • Minimum tenure of 6 months, with opportunity to switch divisions thereafter

Developer Team

Developers
Real Skills is looking for full-stack developers to design, implement and test technical solutions to improve organisational operations.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Consulting and reviewing business, functional and technical requirements in order to create design documents.
  • Designing, developing and testing technical solutions such as web services and GUI.
  • Troubleshooting web applications or websites when problems/bugs are encountered
  • Providing consistent feedback on project progress directly to the operations team.

Desirable Attributes

  • Independent and curious mindset with the ability to learn new skills quickly.
  • Proven rapid prototyping abilities and demonstrable experience working on technical projects
  • Resourceful in exploring and testing different options to solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to both internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong web development skills (E.g HTML, CSS, React.js, Typescript) and knowledge of backend frameworks
  • Strong database design & query skills (mySQL, MongoDB & Postgres)
  • Knowledge of version control systems, preferably git and github
